I am a website JUNKY! I'm constantly adding, tweaking, and everything elseing my site. But here's my philosophy. Your website is your storefront! If you're an on-site photographer as myself, this is especially true. I love carusing through photographer's websites, and I must say, if some didn't have a blog, their site would never change. Talk about a loss of interest!!
Now, without a doubt, you can most definitely go overboard. I probably changed my website's entire design five times the first year. But hey... that's what the first year is for. Exploration and discovery!
So in short. Keep your website as you'd keep your store front.
Keep it NEAT... Two words... um SPELL CHECK!! LOL... also, if you're not very good with grammar, I suggest you find someone who is, and allow them to grammar check your site and even your blogs. Please! ; ) Keep it INTERESTING... You've seen them. Those websites that are so uberly boring! Give possible clients something to whet their appetites! Allow them to window shop with interest! Keep it UPDATED... I've had people come up to me and tell me that they just love looking at my site and are constantly going back to see if I've added anything new! Wow! So I'd say that updating seasonally isn't too much to ask. Keep it SIMPLE... I, having been born with an acute case of ADD, personally get lost in some websites. Click this to go there, but with no return. If your site isn't easy to navigate then I just click the little red x on your tab and find another site to explore. And lastly... Keep it PERSONAL! I recently read a blog post from yet another fabulous Atlanta photographer who talked about how to market your business. Her answer... market yourself. You can give so much of yourself away before you ever give TOO much away. So don't be afraid to show how utterly ridiculous you can be in your blogs, or caring, or hyper, or whatever your personality is... SHOW IT. (unless you're boring and obnoxious... then you have my permission to keep it to yourself. Te he) Your website should be a reflection of your style and taste. Then those with similar styles and tastes will be drawn to you... and blissfully ever after, you have a long lasting photographer/client relationship!
Well... these were just a few thoughts I've had recently in my Free Thinking Moments! (Check out the labels below for more Free Thinking moments) Hope you've enjoyed! If you disagree with any of my suggestions... I'm cool with that! You do your thing and I'll do mine!
Thanks and ciao to all you Bellas!!

Hi Christy, just stumbled onto your blog. This was an interesting post to read! I am a blogger as well and I felt like I was getting called out here :-) I am terrible with my grammar and sometimes when go back and reread my blogs I actually have to laugh out loud at myself. In my defense, I am usually blogging with 3 kids running wild and screaming around me, it gets distracting! I'll blame them for my crappy blog while I still can ;-)
LOL! April... don't you dare feel called out! I promise it wasn't directed at you! LOL! Actually I didn't stumble apon your blog until several weeks after posting this, so you're in the clear! ; )
But, can you imagine the stress I felt after foolishly publishing this... all the sudden I'm running through my website and blogs to make sure I know what I'm talking about! ROFL!!
I've thoroughly enjoyed reading your blogs! Thanks for stopping by my little store front! LOL! Nice to meet you too!

PS. Oh and honey, I completely understand... I have five of my own and they're running back and forth between the living room and the study to scream/talk at me as I type!!! AAAhhhh!
five! That's so awesome! I always wanted 5 kids. But a 5 year old, 2 year old, and 1 year old nearly killed me, so I decided to wait a few years before going for the next 2 ;-) I thought it was a great blog! I loved it and giggled the whole way through :-) I was not offended at all! I just thought it was funny! LoL. I loved it, really!
Well good, I'm glad! = )
